Jorge Martin delivered a masterful performance at the 2024 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, securing his first win since the French GP and extending his championship lead to 21 points. Rookie Pedro Acosta impressed with a second-place finish, while reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia completed the podium after a tough start.

Jorge Martin claimed a stunning victory at the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, his first since the French Grand Prix. The Spanish rider was in unstoppable form, as he secured the win by 1.404 seconds and took a crucial 25 points to extend his championship lead to 21 points, redeeming himself after Saturday’s mistake. Martin denied Pedro Acosta a win despite a very impressive ride from the rookie star. Acosta’s second-place finish moved him into fifth place in the championship standings. Reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia completed the podium, as he battled back from a tough start.

From the start, Martin nailed it and opened a clear gap, with Enea Bastianini on his tail. Bagnaia had a rough opening lap, dropping to sixth after being passed by Bezzecchi and Morbidelli.

Drama unfolded early on, with Jack Miller, Alex Marquez, Aleix Espargaro, and Luca Marini all crashing at Turn 2. Despite the incident, the FIM stewards took no further action. Meanwhile, Marc Marquez recovered from 12th to seventh, gaining ground as he set his sights on Bagnaia.

At the front, Martin pushed the pace, setting the fastest lap and building his lead to 1.333s. Acosta, on a charge, took second from Morbidelli with a clean move, showing why he's one of the most exciting rookies this season.

A fierce battle ensued between Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marc Marquez for nine laps until Di Giannantonio’s race unraveled with a crash at Turn 10, dropping him to 17th. Marquez's hopes of a comeback were dashed on Lap 12 when technical issues forced him to retire from the race.

The fight for the podium heated up, with Morbidelli, Bastianini, Bezzecchi, and Bagnaia in close combat. Bastianini's push to third came on Lap 17, but his charge ended with a crash on Lap 21, wiping out his chance of closing the gap in the Championship as only 12 riders remained in the race.

Bagnaia found his rhythm late, overtaking Bezzecchi and Morbidelli in quick succession to claim third. Acosta, too far ahead for Bagnaia to challenge, secured second. Martin, meanwhile, had a two-second cushion and cruised to victory.

Morbidelli held on for fourth, continuing his strong form, edging out Bezzecchi in fifth. Maverick Viñales finished sixth, the top Aprilia rider, with Fabio Quartararo in seventh, continuing his streak of strong finishes. Brad Binder followed in eighth.

Johann Zarco finished ninth for Honda LCR, ahead of Raul Fernandez, who completed the top 10. Takaaki Nakagami and Alex Rins were the last finishers in this eventful race.
