RACE REPORT | MotoGP Spain 2024

The reigning world champion Bagnaia triumphed in Jerez after a great battle with Marc Márquez, who scored his first podium since switching to Ducati.

Marc Márquez started the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez from first place.  After the start, Márquez maintained his lead and Martin quickly moved into second place. Bezzecchi moved up to third, while Francesco Bagnaia and Alex Márquez were close behind. However, Bagnaia soon found his rhythm, passing both Bezzecchi and Martin before passing Marc Márquez to take the race lead.

Marc Márquez dropped back to third as he tried to regain the lead. Subsequently, Bagnaia also made a mistake and dropped to third place, while Martin climbed to the front and Marc Márquez moved up to chase him down in second.

With 20 laps to go, Martin held on to the lead, but Bagnaia was right behind him. Bezzecchi held third place and the Márquez siblings held fourth and fifth, with Marc working out a narrow lead over Alex. Binder, Oliveira and Bastianini were close behind.

Shortly afterwards, however, Martin crashed, allowing Bagnaia to take the lead, with Marquez following.

The two world champions then put on a great battle for the win, with Bagnaia eventually emerging victorious. However, even Marquez could be satisfied with second place as he scored his first podium since switching to a Ducati motorcycle.

The Ducati motorcycles, in fact, completely dominated the race in Jerez, taking the first five positions. Behind Bagnaia and Marc Marquez, Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez and Bastianini completed the top five.
